The Sanibel City Council consists of five members elected to serve four-year staggered terms. The Council selects the Mayor and Vice Mayor through a vote by Council. All Council Elections are non-partisan.

Each Council member serves in important liaison roles throughout the region to ensure that the City of Sanibel is fully represented as key issues are addressed.
