The Sanibel Police Department is investigating two burglaries in two days. The Sanibel Police Department received a call at approximately 10:15 a.m., on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 from 200 Periwinkle Way, Lighthouse Point Condominiums regarding a burglary in progress.

Two Burglaries in Two Days
The Sanibel Police Department is investigating two burglaries in two days. The Sanibel Police Department received a call at approximately 10:15 a.m., on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 from 200 Periwinkle Way, Lighthouse Point Condominiums regarding a burglary in progress.
The witness heard an unknown person or persons leaving through the bedroom sliding glass door.
During the investigation, the Sanibel Police Department learned the PERPETRATOR(S) ENTERED THE UNIT THROUGH AN UNLOCKED SLIDING GLASS DOOR.
A suspect was arrested at the scene of the first burglary that occurred Monday, November 24th. There has been no suspect apprehended at this time for today’s burglary.
Major Michael Murray reiterated we cannot overemphasize again the importance of keeping your doors and windows locked at all times as well as reporting any suspicious activity to the Police Department immediately. The Police Department reminds residents not to make yourself a target of opportunity, “LOCK YOUR DOORS”. Sanibel residents should be aware of the following crime prevention tips:
· Engrave valuable household items with specific identification and video or photo
· Keep bushes and trees trimmed
· Never hide keys outside your home
· Lock jewelry in a safe or store valuables in safety deposit box
· Let a neighbor know when you are out of town and let them know who should and should not be at your home when you are gone.
