REMINDER - Refuse, Recycling & Waste Collection Delayed One Day due to Labor Day Holiday

Due to the Labor Day Holiday, refuse, recycling or vegetative waste collection is delayed by one day this week. If your normal day is Thursday, then your pick-up will be Friday this week.

Community Alert - Suspicious Incident Follow-Up - September 2, 2008

The Police Department received information that led to the person who spoke to the children. Through conversations with the man, the Police Department has determined that there was no intent to commit a crime. The man has no criminal history and has never been in trouble with law enforcement.

COMMUNITY ALERT! Vehicle Theft

The Sanibel Police Department is currently investigating a motorcycle theft, which occurred August 30, 2008, on Sanibel. The theft of this inoperable motorcycle was from beneath a Beach Road residence.

Sanibel Mayor Mick Denham Appointed as Voting Delegate to the 2008 Water Congress

Sanibel Mayor Mick Denham has been appointed to the 2008 Water Congress Delegation as the representative of the Florida League of Cities.

Hurrican Gustav - Advisory#3 - August 31, 2008

Hurricane Gustav is currently 240 miles southwest of Sanibel traveling northwest at 16 mph. Sustained winds are at 120 mph with higher gusts. Gustav is currently a Category 3 hurricane (111 mph-130 mph).

Tropical Storms Gustav and Hanna - Advisory #1 - August 29, 2008

At this time, Tropical Storm Gustav and Tropical Storm Hanna do not appear to present any danger to Sanibel, however, the City is currently monitoring both storms and will provide updates should changes occur.
